Iceland considers selling stake in Vodafone Iceland - report | |
Iceland | Created: 25 Oct 2009 |
The government of Iceland is considering selling its indirect 57,2 percent stake in Vodafone Iceland, according to Icelandic newspaper Morgunbladid. The Icelandic government owns the stake in the operator after it nationalised the collapsed banking group Landsbanki which had held the stake. The newspaper claims Foroya Tele (Faroe Telecom) is the most likely bidder for the stake. Although the company carries the Vodafone brand, Vodafone Group owns no equity in the firm, but rather franchises the brand to Teymi, the company's ultimate owner.
