The Daily Mail strike again. This, from their "Good Health" section this week:

"Ditch It: Worrying about your memory. A failure to remember facts could simply be a sign you are having fun. According to a study in the journal Cognition and Emotion, concentration levels fall when we enjoy ourselves, reducing the brain's ability to commit facts to memory".

Right. Our brains are failing to work properly because we're enjoying ourselves too much. Who thinks up this rubbish?

So, with a just a vague reference to some journal, this un-credited piece is published in the UK's biggest daily newspaper. It's very convenient, too...yet another sneaky way of misinforming the public and helping them fail to make any connection between EMRs, phone use, masts near their home/work, and health/cognitive problems they might be getting that they can't explain.

Spin this around, and imagine the reaction an article/comment claiming links between EMRs and illness. "Where's the evidence? We want hard, cold facts backed up by zillions of studies" they would scream. They'd discredit it immediately, and probably not even publish it in the first place. Yet unsubstantiated drivel like this, designed purely as a smoke-and-mirrors tactic to throw people off the scent, is not even credited to a journalist and still gets slipped in with all the other Health advice and tips.

Oh, and next to this article is a silly picture of a dog in a party hat. Nice.

ericgeneric,

Yeah. I'd recon it was the other way around: once stress levels go down due to "fun" - cognitive levels and memory go up.

How would you otherwise explain how people can return to work from vacation all bushy-tailed? If the article is right then there's a fortune to be made with "unfun vacations that you'll never forget".

I've always thought that good memories are the ones the brain finds easiest to store away. It's why we tend to look back at the past and think of the better experiences more vividly.

Another subtext of the article is the attempt to equate using mobiles/wi-fi with fun and joy. I find that quite sinister, because it is trying to put that association into people's minds, instead of "y'know, I don't feel so mentally sharp or well when I'm using the phone..maybe there's a link". This whole "revelation" of memory loss equalling happiness is a pre-emptive strike by the pro-wifi brigade.

I've added some comments of the latter point on my blog (which I've finally added to again after several months!).

Eric,
you are so right. The same has been said about breast milk makes kids less hyperactive etc. and by implication milk formula makes them hyperactive (which I wrote about under smart meters!)
This is another misinformation to keep the public from making a connection between microwaves and behavioural problems in children.
They find plenty to write about from some obscure research paper but they cannot publish the real facts about EMRs and health.

I think much of this increase in dementia is related to microwave technologies and the mobile phones and pendants old people use to keep in touch. I know of 2 old people whose memory improved enormously after they stopped using a pendant and mobile phone. Certainly my memory improved when I stopped using a mobile phone.
Have you noticed the repeat films on TV? My suggestion is that so many people have forgotten the plot and every time they watch it is as though it is the first time!
I think this memory loss is a serious problem, because we generally learn from our experiences and if we have forgotten those experiences then we have no anchor to live life by.

Ann, thankyou so much for the feedback and the blog comments. It just makes my blood boil to keep seeing these drip-fed articles of misinformation every week and a blatantly pre-meditated campaign to manufacture public acceptance and credibility in EMR-created conditions and behaviours so that they swallow the lie that these are "new" illnesses, when the truth is nothing of the kind.

Who comes up with this rubbish? Couldn't find the article online but I did find this.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1338370/Shaun-Ryder-blamed-bad-memory-hard- living--fact-dodgy-thyroid.html
As we are aware endocrine malfunction is a symptom of wireless comms.
The news is full of pointless and vacuous studies of this and that either stating the bleeding obvious or making nonsensical assumptions on the basis of a statistical correlation. Also found this, which struck a chord.

I think what is going on is that anyone over 40 is able to remember what life used to be like before all this pollution and can feel the effect. Any younger than that and your congition has been affected from a very early age and so you do not know the difference.

^ I think you make a good point, Will. There is going to be a generation who have been immersed in EMRs from even before birth, let alone the ones growing up now who have had it for 10, 15, 20 years and probably don't even realise the effect it's had, and continues to have, on them.
