Hi all,

Thanks a lot for this great forum.

Shielding is a must after we found there is an AT&T cell tower about 100 meters away from the backyard and master bedroom of our newly-bought house!

Readings ( I'm using a Cornet ED78S)

Most parts of the house: Average 0.08 mw/m2 Max 1.7 mw/m2
Backyard: Average 1.7 mw/m2 Max 4.8 mw/m2
Windows: Average 0.35 mw/m2 Max 2.89 mw/m2

However, the max readings fluctuate a lot depending on night or day time ( how much traffic the cell tower receives in different time slots)

Questions as a newbie here

1. We plan to user fabrics as interior shielding first, with Yshield for exterior surfaces as follow-up. Question: Can I use Yshield to paint the exterior of the house/wall? How is grounding different from if i would paint Yshield inside the house?

2. I read that Swiss Shield Naturell does not attenuate 4G. Then what are the makes and models you recommend to block cell tower with 4G antennas?

3. We plan to use the fabric to hang on the two walls in our bedroom facing the tower. We hope that having the fabrics on two surfaces will create a " shadow" area where we can put the bed. However, since we don't plan to shield the roof, there will be reflections coming from the roof and bouncing by the fabric.

How effective our current plan is? From your experiences, will partially shielding the room possibly create more RF due to the reflection???

Thank you so much!

Be aware that you will need quite extensive measures to attenuate such exposure levels down to habitable levels. In general you should envision creating a full faraday cage around the house. Ideally no opening in the enclosure should be greater than 1/40 of the wavelength of the radiation you wish to shield against. Partial shielding will only seldom have the desired effect - and can ( in many cases ) actually make the problem worse due to unwanted reflections.

Yes, Yshield makes different kind of paints - some are formulated for outdoor stability while others are formulated for environmentally friendly purposes indoor.

There are no practical difference between grounding indoor and outdoor.

2. I read that Swiss Shield Naturell does not attenuate 4G. Then what are the makes and models you recommend to block cell tower with 4G antennas?

4G is a modulation structure, not a specific signal. the transmission structure can be applied in different frequency bands, which means that different shielding characteristics will be needed according to the specific frequency bands used. That said, Swiss Shield Naturell will give you a minimum of 30dB attenuation in all frequency bands currently used for 4G transmissions worldwide. 30dB equals about 99.9%; which means that other imperfections in the enclosure will be the limiting factor and not the material in itself.

The testreport for Swiss Shield Naturell is available online: http://www.swiss-shield.ch/NATURELL.54.0.html?&L=1

Be aware that Yshields paints offers a solution of much more longevity than the Swiss Shield, as the attenuation material (silver fibers) in the Swiss Shield slowly will delaminate from the cotton base layer.

However, since we don't plan to shield the roof, there will be reflections coming from the roof and bouncing by the fabric.

Shielding should be done completely. To reduce the posted exposure values to habitable levels both floors, roof and all sides should be painted. Windows should be covered with attenuating thin-film material or curtains made of attenuating fabric. Doors should be painted or covered with curtains made of attenuating fabric. All parts of the enclosure should have electrical contact over the whole surface of any joining. Thorough grounding will help to avoid re-radiation from the enclosure.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but partial solutions will not achieve any substantial reduction in those conditions.

Christina, So good to see you back here in Forum, and we sure can use your expert advise and help.

We have had some problems with posting in Forum, after an Update and Henrik has not quite figured out what the problem could be, so I want to ask you to send send your solution to him at: webmaster@mast-victims.org
and he will post your replay in the right place.

I am also going to send this to you directly at Yshield, with a copy to Henrik.
Again, thanks for trying to post, we are doing our best to solve the problem.
Best regards.
Agnes

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in our products. Kim Horsevad already answered you your questions and i agree with his answers but i want to say a bit more to your first question:

We recommend our shielding paint HSF54 for exterior use! You can find more informations about this paint on our website:
http://www.yshield.com/eu/yshield-shielding-paint-hsf54-hf-lf-5-liter

The grounding is a bit different to interior. You would need the fiber additive AF3 http://www.yshield.com/eu/yshield-fiber-additive-af3-0.09-liter because it is the replacement for the grounding tape, which you can´t use on exterior walls.

The grounding plate is also a bit different: It is called GE http://www.yshield.com/eu/yshield-grounding-plate-exterior-ge and you need one plate for every edge!

If you have further questions, you can also contact us via email: info@yshield.com. My colleagues and i will answer you all questions!

Sincerely yours, Christina Weber

Hi all,

Thanks for lots of info about shielding from radiation. We are now in the process of shielding our house (or parts of it) because my wife got sensitivity problems.

We have partly shielded our bedroom. We still need to shield the windows. There comes a lot of radiation from wifi etc into the room.

Still I have a question about the YShield paint. We used the HSF64 paint. The product sheet says the main shielding ingredients are carbon and graphite.
Both materials are known to be absorbers instead of reflectors. So, you would think the paint would absorb the radiation and not reflect it. Still I read somewhere that only 10% of the shielding is done by absorbtion. So, the other 90% is probably by reflection.
It wonders us where the reflection comes from. Are carbon and graphite also reflecting radiation? Or are there other shielding components in the paint.

This might be important to decide to use pure carbon on the floor of the bedroom to also create a pure absorbent surface to catch radiation still comming thru. Our livingroom is below the bedroom. We want to avoid any reflection in the livingroom by the shielding material on the floor of the bedroom.

The anisotropic behavior of graphite is exemplified in virtually all of its physical and chemical properties. For example, thermal and electrical conductivity, which result from various modes of within plane electron transfer, are very high in the direction parallel with graphene layer planes ("a" direction).

Get 25kgs of graphite (on ebay) and pour some into water base acrylic paint so its stuffed. Stir as you do it. Test with a surface resistivity meter ( on ebay). Paint this over Baco foil and you are on your way. You can even cover it after or put on many coats.

This is as good as it gets and is very cheap or you can pay 1000s and get ripped off.
