We have are measuring extremely high radiation in many properties near the recently erected mast. The highest recorded was 150,000 micro Watts. We contacted Ofcom and they said they can not do anything. Is there any government body that can do something about it.

Danielle,

Yes those readings are high, but unless your measurements exceed the official (thermal) guidelines of 9.000.000 microWatt/m2 its unlikely anyone in government will take notice.

Ofcom are toothless lapdogs. They decomissioned the phone-mast database Sitefinder in 2012 because the telecoms just stopped providing data on new masts and Ofcom did nothing to enforce that. So now there's no public record of where new masts get installed. To find them, you'll have to dig through local planning records.

Wish I had better news.

You could start a protest and that would really bother the telecoms because they hate any public mention of- or debate on the radiation.

Interestingly i live near a number of masts. Radiation OUTSIDE my house is pretty high on the side of the masts, with the average reading way up high, yet when i come indoors it falls right down to somewhat 'normal' levels.

They installed these at the side of the hill with antennas facing directly at people's windows. They are so low as they are trying to avoid going through the planning process by pretending there are no masts on the building. So basically our large Victorian windows are in a full blast of the antennas at very short distance.

wokinglad,

That is usually due to absorbing or reflecting abilities of building materials.

Some older buildings have mesh wire in the walls as a plaster fastener.

Stuff like that.

Also Pilkington K window glass (with led tinting) have excellent microwave shielding properties.
