The truth is out there
United Kingdom Created: 17 Aug 2009
Belarus is widely seen as the last outpost of the communist experiment in Europe, shackled under the grip of Alexander Lukashenko.
In a week when British politicians fought over the label "progressive", our comrades in this eastern European enclave have been making their own claims to the mantle. Lukashenko's education authorities are considering introducing a new uniform to protect children from the electromagnetic radiation caused by mobile phones.
It would have a special pocket for the phones, made of absorptive material.
Apparently teachers have been complaining that pupils are too easily distracted, though why they don't just ban phones altogether, or ask them to be switched off, isn't clear.
Still, communists were never shy about innovation.
