Mobilsändarnas strålning oroar
Sweden Created: 22 Sep 2005

Tills man vet säkert tillämpar man försiktighetsprincipen i

(http://www.dajiyuan.com)

Councillors vote to reject mast
United Kingdom Created: 21 Sep 2005
Councillors ignored their officials on Wednesday to vote against a proposed mobile phone mast.
South Ribble Planning Committee rejected plans for the 14.7m 3G mast on farmland near a school and housing estate in Hoghton, Lancashire.
Planning officials had recommended the T-Mobile mast should be accepted.
However councillors decided against the phone mast on the grounds of siting and appearance. Residents and local MP Nigel Evans had opposed the plan.

'Unbelievable result'
Campaigner Chris Nelson said: "We're delighted, it's unbelievable."
He added that he hoped T-Mobile would not appeal against the decision.
The company was applying for determination, a process which allows masts under 15m to be built without planning permission as long as the local planning authority agrees.

No-one at T-Mobile was available for comment.

45 HAVE DIED IN THE VICINITY OF A TRANSMITTER OF TELEPHONY AND A POWER TRANSFORMATOR STATION
Spain will be flooded by telephony basestations to provide coverage for the new generation of portable phones: UMTS (also known as 3G). Although harmlessness has not yet been scientifically demonstrated, the evidences of negative effects of UMTS technology are in the thousands. We must bear in mind that it is the mobile-telephony and electricity companies that must demonstrate the harmlessness of their technology. That will be a difficult task following cases like the one of Majadahonda where over 40 people, living in 5 buildings within 15-20 meters of a mobile-phone basestation and a power transformator, have died of cancer and cardiovascular disease over a short span of years. There remains only one option: it is necessary to go to the courts.

“Electrosmog” – Are We Getting Too Much?

There's no getting away from it: we are bombarded with electromagnetic radiation from remote control devices, cell phones and other sources.
But is the bombardment harmful? It depends who you ask. Ergonomics enters the issue when it comes to taking action.
A switch that turns off the radiation can claim ergonomic credentials. So can a warning device.
People worried about when to take action represent a ready market for an "electrosmog" meter released recently in Britain.

London-based Sensory Perspective says its new Electrosmog Detector meters potentially harmful pollution - described as electrosmog - from nearby wireless technologies.
The hand-sized battery-powered meter has a speaker that signals if there is a large concentration of activity in the wireless spectrum between 50MHz and 3000MHz. The company regards cordless phones, cell phones, wireless computer networks, baby alarms, microwaves and other appliances as polluting. It cites studies implicating so-called electrosmog in a host of conditions, including one the British Department of Health, the Health Protection Agency and the World Health Organization call electrosensitivity or electrohypersensitivity (EHS).
Adverse health effects attributed to EHS include chronic fatigue, depression, headaches, epilepsy, behavioral changes in children, disrupted sleep patterns and skin complaints. The company said its research shows that between 3 percent and 5 percent of the general population could be at risk from radiation pollution.

The July 27 issue of The Ergonomics Report™ ergonomicsreport.com, a publication for professionals requiring in-dept coverage of current ergonomics issues, focused on the potential harm of cell phones. It cited 1998 research linking cell phone use with high blood pressure, and a Swedish study published in 2002 that linked analog cell phones and brain tumors.

Yet as many other studies dismiss the harm findings, as suggested by the title of the July 27 The Ergonomics Report™:
"Are Cell Phones Dangerous? It's Still An Open Question."

Cell phone manufacturers are loud in their denials: "Years of scientific research reaffirm there are no health risks associated with wireless phones," said Nokia spokesman Keith Nowak. From Motorola: "Scientific experts review this issue on a continual basis. Their conclusions have been consistent over many years: the radio signals from wireless telephones, two-way radios or other portable communications devices pose no known health risk."

A study published this year in Psychosomatic Medicine 67:224-232 debunks a study that suggests some individuals are more susceptible to the emissions than others. Dr G. James Rubin and his research team at the Mobile Phone research Unit at King's College in Britain write: "the symptoms reported by 'electromagnetic hypersensitivity' sufferers can be proven experimentally, suggesting the presence of the condition is unrelated to weak electromagnetic fields."

The continuing dispute is fertile ground for scaremongering. Issued by a manufacturer of devices purported to shield users from harmful phone radiation, the scare runs like this: "Don't accept the industry denials that mobile phones are safe. Mobile phones could be the cigarettes of the 21st century with similar legal battles ahead!"

Though researchers may argue forever about the potential for harm, they don't dispute electromagnetic radiation exists. The ergonomic value of an effective meter is that it can provide anyone worried about radiation the kind of information they need to decide if they want to escape - by turning off devices in the vicinity or moving to another spot.

3G Dead On Arrival: Danes don't care about 3G
Denmark Created: 20 Sep 2005
Danish computer magazine Computerworld has run a poll asking danes about their personal 3G plans:
Computerworld's audience is representative of tech savvy Danes and with 3655 votes in, the poll indicates that 76% of modern danes aren't interrested in acquiring a 3G phone any time soon.

The poll results are:
4% expect to purchase a 3G phone this year.
6% expect to purchase a 3G phone next year.
6% already have a 3G phone
76% are not interrested in buying a 3G phone
8% aren't sure

Now, that's not alot of interrest for the industry's proclaimed "next-big-thing". The biggest players in the mobile industry have bet everything on 3G succeeding and with such low consumer interrest, they must be bleeding money through open sores.

Currently Denmark only has 1 active 3G operator - namely the notoriously agressive "3" brand.
At last counting "3" had only 124.647 customers and that amounts to about 2,49 percent of the population of 5 million.

Since 2003, "3" has been scrambling to win customers with TV commercials and fullpage newspaper advertisements every day.
Lately "3" publicly admitted losing 8000 customers since last year and in a desperate move, prior to admitting the loss, the company sent out letters to former customers, practically begging them to return.

Denmarks other 3G licence holding telecoms have been waiting and watching in the background and now TDC, the largest Danish telecom, has announced that it's 3G launch will take place 3rd. oct. 2005 - despite 3G interrest being so low in Denmark.

As goes for now and the "3" network - the remaining 97,5 percent of the population will just have to tolerate being electromagnetically polluted by the unwanted 3G signals.

Umts-rechtszaak kost echtpaar 600.000 euro

Duf Konijn @ donderdag 15 september 2005, 13:03

Electrosensitivity Diagnosed in Cell Phone Users
United Kingdom Created: 15 Sep 2005
Electrosensitivity Diagnosed in Cell Phone Users

Though not yet recognized by the medical profession as a legitimate condition, a report to be released next month may acknowledge headaches,
joint pain, depression and fatigue in some frequent cell phone users as electrosensitivity.

Rod Read, of the charity Electrosensitivity UK, says that it’s quite difficult for people to get diagnosed because it's not officially recognized as an illness.
Most general practitioners would dismiss complaints of the condition as purely psychological.
It will be quite interesting to see these reports once they are available. I myself have had many symptoms I believe have come from electromagnetic devices;
joint pain, fatigue and even irregular heart beats.

Women apparently suffer greater then men of electrosensitivity, it is often triggered by excess mobile phone and computer use.
Extreme tiredness, concentration and memory problems and depression are among the other symptoms.
Some sufferers claim a feeling of being “zapped” by electromagnetic fields emitted by electronic devices.

"Magnetic fields can attract/mobilize the majority of metallic elements.
For example in humans, hemoglobin contains an iron core and superoxide dismutase contains a copper core.
Both play important roles circulation and the removal of free radicals."

Forthcoming Review on Electrosensitivity

Recent newspaper articles about a forthcoming report from the Health Protection Agency are speculative, and various assertions about its contents are inaccurate. (Sunday Times, 11 Sept 2005; Daily Mail, 12 September 2005).

The report will be a scientific review of the topic of electrosensitivity with a public health perspective. It will not be a definitive statement of policy from the
Board of the Health Protection Agency.
The Board of the Agency is not in a position to make a decision on whether electrosensitivity is a "medical condition" or not.
This is for the medical profession to decide on an international basis.

The report will be published next month with a press release summarising its contents. This will be available to news media under embargo. http://www.hpa.org.uk/hpa/news/articles/press_releases/2005/050912_electrosensitivity.htm

for persons with impairments (prop. 1999/2000:79
"Den nationella handlingplanen för handikappolitiken - Från patient till medborgare"), the Swedish Act concerning Support and Service for Persons with

Persons with impairments are NOT "a medical condition".
This is very important to realize and understand.
