Chichester Observer Plans for a mobile phone mast on the edge of Oaklands Park, Chichester, have run into strong opposition from city councillors, concerned about the impact on the historic city conservation area. A final decision on the Airwave 02 proposals will be taken by the district council, and the city's planning and conservation committee is calling for them to be thrown out. The scheme has also already provoked protests from some nearby residents. Planning permission is being sought to build the 22.5m mast at Chichester Lawn Tennis and Squash Club, in Oaklands Way.
